How to Apply  

These Market Rules & Vendor Standards (“Rules”) apply to all vendors operating within Black Wall Street Market Houston (“Market”). Below is the Vendor Leasing Agreement PDF
Compliance with these Rules is a condition of tenancy.

The Market is a curated retail environment. These Rules may be updated from time to time to preserve brand integrity, safety, and customer experience.

1. GENERAL MARKET STANDARDS

(Applies to All Vendors)

All vendors agree to:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional space at all times

• Operate independently without daily supervision

• Stock inventory consistently and operate during required market hours

• Conduct business in a lawful, ethical, and professional manner

• Treat customers, staff, and other vendors with respect

Black Wall Street Market Houston reserves the right to address any conduct or condition that negatively impacts the Market.

2. APPROVED PRODUCTS & SERVICES

Vendors may sell only the products or services approved during the application process.

Vendors shall not:

• Sell illegal, prohibited, counterfeit, or misrepresented goods

• Add new product categories without prior approval

• Engage in deceptive or misleading sales practices

Approval may be modified or withdrawn at the Market’s discretion.

3. HIGH-VALUE OR HIGH-RISK MERCHANDISE

(Applied Selectively at Market Discretion)

Certain product categories, based on value, theft risk, or regulatory considerations, may be subject to additional requirements, including but not limited to:

• Secured or locked display cases

• Additional display or inventory controls

• Proof of authenticity or lawful sourcing

• Recommended or required insurance coverage

These requirements may be imposed at any time and are not limited to specific categories.

4. ELECTRONICS, DEVICES & DATA-SENSITIVE GOODS

(Applied Selectively at Market Discretion)

Vendors offering electronics, devices, accessories, repairs, or services involving customer data agree that:

• All items sold must be lawfully obtained and owned

• No stolen, blacklisted, or illegally modified devices may be sold or serviced

• Customer data and privacy must be protected in accordance with applicable laws

The Market assumes no responsibility for device performance, data loss, or vendor warranties.

5. INVENTORY, LOSS & LIABILITY

Vendors acknowledge that:

• They are solely responsible for their inventory and equipment

• The Market is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage

• Vendors assume all risks related to their business operations

Insurance is strongly encouraged and may be required based on product type.

6. VISUAL MERCHANDISING & DISPLAY

All displays must:

• Be professional and retail-ready

• Comply with space, safety, and aesthetic standards

• Not obstruct walkways or neighboring vendors

The Market reserves the right to require display changes to maintain consistency and safety.

7. TRANSACTIONS & TAX RESPONSIBILITY

Vendors are solely responsible for:

• All sales transactions

• Collection and reporting of applicable sales taxes

• Payment processing and cash handling

The Market does not process, guarantee, or mediate vendor sales.

8. ENFORCEMENT & TERMINATION

Failure to comply with these Rules constitutes a material violation of the Vendor Suite Lease Agreement and may result in:

• Written notice

• Required corrective action

• Suspension or termination of tenancy

No refunds are issued for violations resulting in termination.

9. MODIFICATION OF RULES

Black Wall Street Market Houston reserves the right to modify these Rules at any time. Continued operation in the Market constitutes acceptance of updated Rules.
